The Champion

Designed by Tom Fazio in 1981 and redesigned by Jack Nicklaus in 1990.
The finishing holes, #15, #16, and #17, are known as the “Bear Trap,”
because they all require shots over water. This course is the site of
the Senior’s PGA Championship. Ranked highly by all the golf magazines.
The General
T his
Scottish-style links course has undulating fairways, numerous grass
bunkers, and a common green shared by holes #8 and #12. Water comes into
play on sixteen holes. Designed by Arnold Palmer and Ed Seay in 1985,
The General, named for the world-famous leader of "Arnie's Army", is
definitely affected by wind.
The Haig
This track is the oldest of the five courses and is named after the
legendary Walter Ha ig
and opened in 1980. George and Tom Fazio designed this course to be
long, tight and full of trees. They honored Haig, who took time to stop
and smell the rose, by placing rose bushed atthe 150-yard markers. Water
comes into play on sixteen holes. Golfers often opt for either hitting
over the water hazards or playing around them. Of course, some golfers
have no choice and play into them.
The Squire
T his
course is named for Gene Sarazen, was designed by George and Tom Fazio
in 1981 and is described as a “thinking man’s course.” It demands
accuracy, not distance, requiring many well-placed fairway wood and long
iron shots in order to score well. It is a fun course, but challenging.
The Estate

The course is located about 6 miles west of the resort, differs not only
in grass type, but also style. Where all the greens are Bermuda grass at
the resort, you will experience TiffDwarf grass on these greens. It also
is the newest of the courses and designed by Karl Litten in 1984. You
will experience open meadows banded by Florida pines, subtropical
foliage and many lakes.
