Mountain View
Former home to the PGA Tour's Buick Challenge, this Dick Wilson d esigned
track offers great elevation changes and tight tree-lined fairways. Tee
shot placement is very important in order to score well. My favorite
hole is the par 5 #15, a 539 yard masterpiece that can be reached in
two, but I caution you that the water in front and beside the green
collect a large number of balls.
Lake View
This is the resor t's
original course, designed by J. B. McGovern and Dick Wilson and
co-founder Cason Callaway himself provided the inspiration for the
layout. He believed that playing golf should be a pleasant experience in
beautiful surroundings. The challenge lies in its nine water holes and
its beauty in its landscaping of azaleas, dogwoods and seasonal flowers.
Number 5 is well known for its island tee and serpentine bridge over
Mountainview Creek Lake to the green in front of the Gardens Restaurant.
You may want to run in for a beer to drown your sorrows.
Orchard Hills Golf Club
On your way back to Atlanta, you can't pass up one of the best examples
of
links-style golf in the area. Don Cottle, Jr. designed 27 great holes.
On a misty morning, you can almost feel like you're back in Scotland.
The Orchard and the Logo nines are my favorites. Because of the open
terrain, the wind can become a factor when making a club selection.
Knee-high grass rough define the fairways and water hazards come into
play on eight holes. The greens are undulating and fast, so have a fun
day.
