Myrtle Beach. One of the top golf destinations in the world
awaits your arrival. With nearly 14 million visitors a year, it is no
surprise that Myrtle Beach, with over 60 miles of warm, sandy beaches,
is such a popular vacation choice for millions of golfers. With over
100 courses, you can visit here for the next 20 years and not play them
all. Besides the women, the beaches, the golf, the clubs, shops and
restaurants, I can’t think of any other reason to come to the Grand
Strand. Special Note: the South Carolina Golf Course Ratings Panel
recently honored all five courses that are in this package as part of
their Top 25 Courses in the State Awards.
Barefoot
Resort’s North Tower offers you the perfect balance of fun and
relaxation. Each suite has three or four bedrooms with their own
bathrooms. Everyone will have his own bedroom. Views range from
overlooking the 142-slip marina, to overlooking the beautiful
championship golf courses at Barefoot. The accommodations are luxurious,
spacious, relaxing and feature climate controls, refrigerators, Cable
TVS and coffee makers. Of course, what’s really important is the four
onsite championship golf courses designed by Greg Norman, Davis Love
III, Tom Fazio and Pete Dye, it’s sure to make your stay one that
everyone will remember. These designers have come together to create the
ultimate landscape that will test all your golfing skills. |

Tidewater Golf Plantation
This is a traditional-style tract, located on a beautiful, rolling,
salt-marsh peninsula, with nine very scenic holes overlooking the
expansive salt marshes and Intraco astal
Waterway. The inland holes wander through a forest, and water hazards
come into play on six holes. In 1990 Golf Digest named it the “Best New
Public Golf Course in America”
and has since gone on to become one of the top two or three
courses at the beach. Flowing with the natural contours of the land, the
course challenges you with a range of elevation changes not often found
in seaside South Carolina. And as your round progresses, views of the
Waterway, marsh and ocean bring fresh inspiration at every turn. With
its classic yet contemporary design, Tidewater offers thrilling rewards
to shot makers who take chances, use proper course management, and
welcome challenges. With a setting enjoyed by few golf courses in the
Southeast and a layout that is both practical and clever, there's good
reason for this lofty ranking.
Barefoot
Resort - Love Course
Carolina native and le ading
PGA TOUR professional Davis Love, III; winner of the 1997 PGA
Championship may have solidified his reputation as a course designer
with his creation at Barefoot Resort. Competing with other architects in
the Barefoot Resort project such as Fazio, Norman and Dye, Davis was
determined to build a course that was unique, visually striking and fun
to play. The course even incorporates a replica of ruins from a 17th
Century plantation house, similar to ruins found along holes in Scotland
and Ireland.
Barefoot
Resort - Fazio Course
Tom Fazio, voted by Golf Course News as "Golf Course Architect of
the Y ear"
five years in a row, brings his design expertise to a rolling parcel of
land at the heart of Barefoot Resort. Golfweek Architecture Editor Brad
Klein states that Fazio has "perfected a certain formula for creating
overwhelming, lovely holes that are meticulously manicured and pleasant
to play." Living up to such acclaim, Fazio's Barefoot Resort Course is
certain to attract more national acclaim. Off the tees, players will be
greeted with stunning visuals and 18 distinct holes that will all be
remembered after your round.
Barefoot
Resort - Dye Course
While all four of th e
Barefoot courses are some of the best tracks in the area, and this one
is one of the area’s best. Bordering the natural white sands of the
Carolina Bays, this visually stunning Pete Dye design is filled with his
infamous pitfalls for wayward shots that have become synonymous with the
Dye name. Working with exceptional elevations and an excellent site,
this course really lives up to the challenges Old Pete is famous for.
While this layout is both beautiful and treacherous, if played from the
appropriate set of tees, players of all abilities will be able to easily
navigate this Par 72, 7,343-yard layout that encourages walking for
guests and members alike. This course is only one of the four at
Barefoot with its own clubhouse and practice facility.
Grande Dunes,
Resort Course
Tee off along the Intracoastal’s sparkling waters and get ready for an
unforgettable golf experience! Breathtaking views and exciting
shot-making challenges combine f or
not only a truly sensational game but also a remarkable range of
playability. Grande Dunes’, recently named by Golf Magazine as “Top 10
You Can Play”, is setting a new definition for world-class play. This
scenic 18-hole masterfully designed course is the creation of the
renowned Roger Rulewich Group, a team of former key members of Robert
Trent Jones, Sr., Golf Course and Construction Companies. Some of my
favorite holes start with #2, a pretty little par 3 that requires a
carry over water. Choose the correct club. In fact all of the 3 pars may
be the best collection on any course you will ever play. The fourth is a
three shot par 5 that curves around hazards to a well-guarded green. The
par five 13th features forced water carries on your drive.
The green is uphill set in mounds protected by bunkers. The finishing
hole is a Grande one with a great view of the clubhouse, bridge and
Intracoastal Waterway. |
