Emerald Bay Golf Club
Golfers are truly captivated by Emerald Bay’s serene views. Shor tly
after entering Emerald Bay’s secured gates, the passion and challenge to
navigate around water holes, tame swift greens with soft approach shots,
and maneuver around manicured fairways with pinpoint accuracy will
overwhelm you. Designed by Bob Cupp, Emerald Bay is course believed by
many to be one of northwest Florida's very best. In 1992, Golf Digest
believed it and voted Emerald Bay one of the top new courses in the
country. As you navigate the fairways and greens of this 6,802-yard, par
72 layout, you will enjoy breathtaking views of Choctawhatchee Bay,
which borders part of the back nine. The course is always in supreme
condition and is one you don't want to miss!
Kelly Plantation
Whe n
they called this place, "the masterpiece on the bay," they weren’t
kidding. The partnership of Fred Couples and Gene Bates created this
design collaboration. Golf Digest selected the course as the "Best new
private course in America." Hole #4 is a great par 4 with a couple of
tee box options. If the shot from the tee is played up the left side
(close to the water and a small wetland on the shore of the bay) the
angle to the green will be excellent. If you bail out from the tee, the
second shot will be more at the water and hence more difficult. A sand
bunker on the rear of the green is the only barrier separating the green
from the bay. Overall the course features lush fairways that are nestled
along the southern edge of the Choctawhatchee Bay, which flows into the
Gulf of Mexico. The course is somewhat flat with large, undulating
greens. The fairways are open with wide landing corridors. It is truly a
delight to play!
Regatta Bay Golf Club
Designed by Robert C. Walker, the former lead architect for Arnold
Palmer, this great layout opened in 1998. Set among breathtaking nature
preserves, the challenging c ourse
provides an extraordinary golfing experience for players of all levels.
In fact, readers from Florida Golf News magazine voted the course “the
#1 Favorite Golf Course in Northwest Florida” for four years and readers
of Emerald Coast magazine Best of Emerald Coast two years. Additionally,
Golf Digest ranked the course among its “Top 200 Places to Play in North
America,” as well as one of the “Top 15” courses in Florida. Regatta Bay
now features the most advanced Global Positioning System, (GPS). This
system provides many new features to golfers including: enabling them to
find their exact yardage and the length of their drive. Even with the
wetlands and trees, the fairways are deceivingly receptive. Water comes
into play on 10 holes. There are actually two signature holes. #8, a
191-yard, par 3, that calls for a full carry over water to a bulk-head
green that is guarded by a half-dozen bunkers and #18, 533-yard, par 5
that is reachable in two strokes if you want to gamble on your
water-carry approach shot. This hole has been nicknamed “Tin Cup.”
Indian Bayou Golf Club
Come play one of Northwest Florida's finest courses. 27 holes of large
undulating greens, wide open fairways, majestic pin es
and marshes. You'll see it all at Indian Bayou. The course was designed
by Earl Stone over the years from 1978 to 1991. Overall the complex
features large elevated greens complimented by wide, forgiving fairways.
However, bunkers and water come into play on many holes, increasing the
challenge as well as the scenic beauty. The Creek Course has many
marshes and swamps that come into play. The Seminole Course has large
greens and wide-open fairways. The Choctow Nine is heavily wooded with
many tree-lined fairways. The signature hole is #4 on the Creek Nine,
which requires a long carry over a marsh to an island fairway with a
landing area of approximately 140 square yards. There are elevation
changes throughout all theses well-designed courses.
